Finger Prints

"Does man think that We shall not gather his bones? Yea! We are able to make complete his very fingertips." (Quran: 75/3-4)

Fingerprints have been used for identifiying humans for a very long time. Finger prints are formed in the embryo at the fourth month, and remain fixed along life. Patterns of each person's fingerprint are unique to each individual. Every person has a set of unique fingerprints, even "identical twins" with the very same DNA have different fingerprints.

This fact was discovered by the English Scientist, William Herschel in 1858. Allah(God) has stated in Quran: "I swear by the day of resurrection. I swear by the self-reproaching soul. Does man think that We shall not gather his bones? Yea! We are able to make complete his very fingertips." (Quran: 75: 1-4)

Before 19th century, people did not understand the uniqueness and importance of the patterns on the finger tips. But, Allah(God), by the above verse, underlines the importance and usage of finger prints. In today's world this miracle has been totally understood and fingerprints are accepted as a very important proof of identity.

As the use of computers and image recognition devices increase, scientific identity determination methods have been developed to get more use of finger prints. In our day, we get use of finger prints as a proof of identity in legal (criminal cases) and securtiy (doors, notebooks .. ) processes.

Even in today's world, no method of identity verification gives such effective results as fingerprints. So "Then which of the favours of your Lord will you deny?" ( Quran: 55/13 )

This is another fact that the Quran revealed 1400 years ago.
